Bark, Top Soil and Compost

Mushroom Compost
A by-product from Ostrom’s Mushroom Farm in Lacey, Washington, Mushroom Compost consists of Wheat-Straw, Dried Poultry Litter, Recycled Gypsum, Alfalfa Screenings, Sugar Beet Lime and Dried Urea. All are combined and composted. After mushrooms are grown in the material and then picked, the spent compost is sterilized and turned to continue the composting process creating a superb soil conditioner/amendment. The compost is used in vegetable gardens and flower beds and can be tilled into existing soil or lain 6” thick and planted directly into the case of vegetable gardens. As the composting process of the amendment continues to finish over time, the longer it is in/on the soil, the greater the quality of the amendment.
